Hello all, I am fairly new to this forum/site and it was just brought to my attention that the pair of jeans I advertised here in the Mall is a "fake" but I was not give a reason why or how someone can tell a fake from authentic just by looking at a picture? Since it was my supplier's idea for me to advertise here claiming that only authentic jeans are being sold here and since he is the one who kept warning me to look out for fakes, it just doesn't add up, I will be asking him in a few hours to take a look at this thread for us to get to the bottom of this. Since I am mainly in the computer industry and I am a novice at this clothing thing but seeking to become heavily involved in the clothing industry, I would like to know especially for future reference, exactly how to tell if an item is fake or genuine especially from just looking at a pic? Would really appreciate anyone's help, thanks.

Hey milkehende,
We have a lot of members on this forum who know how to tell the fakes from real, the easiest way is to looks at microstitching on the tag of the jeans you can also tell from the wash, the stitching, shape of logos on pockets etc and the poor looking qaulity of the jeans, if you compare a fake pair with the real pair it becomes easier to see the difference, alot of us on this forum have been doing it for a long time so its easy just to tell from photos of the jeans alone.
I dont remember which jeans it was you were selling and were fake but its easy to not know if you are not into jeans yourself, maybe your supplier himself doesnt know as well but if people on this forum declared them as fake them its most likely going to be true.
At the top right of this forum you will see a link to designerjeansguide, on that website there are some useful pages put together on how to tell fakes from different brands

Thanks for the quick reply Lorna, I will be contacting my supplier in another hour or so for him to review this thread and for us to get to the bottom of this and will reply back here, I will look into the designerjeansguide link you mentioned, in the meantime, can I ask a favor please to send you or anyone else the pics of 2 pairs of jeans and then maybe you can tell/show me exactly what makes them fake? This way I can pass along that info to my supplier?

Thanks, will do so right now, I had bought 5 brands for resale: Hudson, Paige, Frankie B, Joe's and True Religion. I will send you the pics of the Hudson and Paige jeans as I don't want to swamp you by sending you pics of all 5 brands.

If you want to you can post in the other brands section the photos and people in there will tell you, there are quite a few who can authenticate frankie b and paige and hudson, you can post the TRs in the TR section and loads can help you out with those that might be easier you can see the replys come in then.

to HF!
Wow lorna, that is super helpful info, good job! Definitely everyone is super helpful here when it comes to authenticating so do not hesitate to PM a mod for some help. You'll also find very quickly that a lot of members really know their stuff when it comes to checking authenticity of certain brands, if not all of them.

If there is anything I can do to help, feel free to PM.

PS >>also there is a link located right above the HF banner called 'Designer Jeans Guide.' It has a link for each premium brand which helps you spot all those fakes! its pretty cool, check it out.

Awesome, feel free!

Also, just an fyi...if you are looking to authenticate Diesel in particular, do not post a new thread, rather post in the http://www.honestforum.com/diesel-je...ll-banned.html thread, (located near the top of the Diesel section) otherwise it will be locked. You can however openly post checks in any other section though.

Again if there is anything I can do to help, let me or any of the other mods know!

I must say that I subscribe to many different forums over the net, too many to mention over all of these years and I have never come across a forum where there are so many people eager to help newcomers, you guys ever think about pooling together and opening an internet store between yourselves? You guys should do very well with such a venture!

Hey Misspookie, I see you're located in Toronto, is it still as beautiful over there? Spent one year in the mid 80's in College in Toronto, can't believe after all these years I haven't been back there, still got lots of relatives and friends all over the place over there.

You'll be surprised if you ever make it back here to visit how many condos and lofts have gone up around the gardiner or anywhere for that matter! its crazy, they are goin up everywhere. I have even seen the changes over the years, let alone since the 80's! you should come visit the family and see whats new here.
