Aunts & Uncles make very fair-priced, high-quality notebook/laptop bags. I guess they're only in available in Germany, though...

aunts & uncles - Notebooktaschen Leder Laptoptasche : Artikelansicht

etc.

Omg that J. Crew bag is the SAME price as a Prada bag! If you're going to spend that much, go to Saks and get a brand worth that kind of money.

My personal suggestion would be Tumi. I bought one from them freshman year of college and it has held up so well. It was only about $130 on sale, but it's actually big enough to fit my 15" MBP and books, snacks, cell phone..you name it. The problem with a lot of these bags is they are so expensive but not big enough to hold anything!

Are you really fixed on leather? I’ve got a Briggs & Riley messenger bag that really looks great and which may suit your purposes. It has some great features that help me keep organized. You didn’t exactly mention whether you wanted your messenger bag primarily to carry your laptop or whether you’re looking for any special functional features. My Go Messenger bag has a removable, padded laptop sleeve which fits my 15” laptop. The laptop sleeve is checkpoint friendly so I can keep the laptop safely inside the sleeve during security screenings. There’s a front organizer that has multiple pockets to hold stuff like pens, card, etc. The slip pockets hold my folders – A4 or legal. It’s really lightweight and strong, too. Even comes with a lifetime warranty – it’s the best! See if it suits what you’re looking for.
