Someone messaged me saying that I measured the inseam wrong on a pair of jeans I sold. She says that I am more than an inch off from what I started in my ebay auction and demands a refund.

I politely asked her to send me pictures of how she measured and I explained the way I measured. All she did was email me back and tell me that she measured the same way and that the jeans are just way too short for her.

I am really wondering if they just don't fit and she wants to return them. I don't think I have ever measured inseams incorrectly and I definitely wouldn't be a whole inch off. Although it is possible that I could have made a typing error in my listing.

What is also kind of bothering me is the fact that I checked the tracking and it says that the jeans are still enroute and not even delivered yet...I know there is some delay with USPS tracking, but usually when it gets delivered, it says delivered. This could also maybe explain why she won't provide me with pics

I don't know if I am just being overly cautious because I've had so many issues with ebay buyers lately...or if I am just being unreasonable and paranoid.

Would you refund her without seeing pictures of how she measured the inseam?

I would definitely not refund her without proof, especially if the tracking information says they haven't even been delivered yet! That's ludicrous.

I just got a paypal claim filed against me today because some b**** in Oklahoma hasn't received a package after 2 weeks and 3 days! (She wrote in her complaint "it's been almost a month and no jeans.") Guess what, it's called US Customs, and I have no control over how long it takes.

I hate ebay buyers.

Good luck with your person.

I'm sorry that you've been so unlucky with your buyers..
I wouldn't refund either, and if the jeans are still en route, why the heck did she claim that they were too short anyway?

No, I would wait for her to send pics of her measuring the jeans. It just might be possible that she does have the jeans but its not showing up as delivered.

That inch though can make all the difference. My inseam is 31 so if a seller measured wrong and they were a 30 they would be no good for me, but then I wouldnt go through the hassle of sending them back I would sell them on or turn them into crops. She's probably decided she doesnt like them - they seem to want a refund for anything these days. I wish Ebay would change the feedback system back again

Some buyers seriously are major scammers. In my opinion, no pictures, no refund.

I have been reading some of the posts that you sellers have on ebay and I am disgusted at the way ebay buyers behave, they do not realise they are really fortunate to be able to buy authentic jeans from decent sellers. they could easily be ripped off and sold fakes, thank goodness I don't sell anything I would be a nervous wreck!

Yeh I agree with that - just checked completed auctions, the prices are great, not overpriced at all. They got a good deal. You just can't please some people

askdhalskdhalskd. this is the message i just got from her:

"Hi,

I don't have a digital camera at the moment. So I can't send a pic of me meas.uring it. However, there are many sellers that have an illustration of how they measure inseeam in their description, that is exactly how I did it...
I can send you a link to one of those auctions if you want. i don't know how else I can show you!"

how can i politely say that i refuse to refund her unless she shows me proof? i bet she's going to neg me and file some paypal claim. kdhfslkdhfsldkfhsldkhj

I also find it fishy because she keeps saying the hems are too short etc etc...but here is the original auction:
Rock & Republic 70s APRICOT CROWN LONDON Jean 24 25 - eBay (item 250279165660 end time Aug-07-08 12:52:11 PDT)

I honestly feel like someone who needs the full length hem wouldn't even purchase these due to the irregularities because it would look slightly odd when wearing the jeans.

Well the silly bitch should have emailed you and asked you how you measure them then.

This is stupid, judynjacob get their measurements wrong all the time. I bet thats whose auction link she will send you.

I'd just say I'm sorry but if you can't show me how you arrived at that inseam measurement I can't accept a return and refund you. Just take the neg and leave a good follow up. Most normal people will be able to work out who the idiot is

aww thanks seven, you're so helpful and sweet!

this is what i replied with:
"Hi,

Please understand that I cannot provide you with a refund without pictures. I understand your explanation of the inseam measurement, but I cannot accept returns due to fit or buyer's remorse. If you can provide me with photos of how you measured the inseam and I have indeed misguided you in my auction, I will gladly provide you with a refund."

I think your response was very polite and appropriate. I have only purchased a handful of jeans on ebay and 2 of them had inseams off by 2 and 3 inches. The first thing I did when contacting the seller was to offer to send pictures of the inseam measured to prove my case on the item not being as described. Surprisingly both sellers didn't need to see them though & I ended up taking a partial refund and just reselling the jeans on both the pairs to be done with the issues. Not saying you did measure wrong but like sevenheaven said 1 inch can make a huge difference.

I completely agree she needs to be able to prove the jeans are measured wrong for a refund. Even if she files a item as not described complaint with ebay and paypal she will have to prove her case which I assume will require pictures. It is possible though that she does not have a camera many of my friends don't have a camera and on the rare occasion they need to take a picture they use their cell phone.

Hope this works out I think you are doing the right thing being professional & hopefully she realizes that while she doesn't have a camera when doing a transaction you just can't take someones word on it.
