I had my first pair of Paige jeans hemmed at Nordstrom's, but they hemmed them too short! I wasn't too sure of what to expect because I'd never had my jeans altered before so I thought the seamstress just knew what she was doing. I told her I wanted a 32"-32.5" inseam, but she was adamant about the pinning and even though I said I wanted it longer, she only pinned it so that the front hem was just touching the top of my shoe. I thought what she'd done would turn out fine- after all she must've done this a thousand time before, but I definitely thought wrong because my jeans now have a 31" inseam and I feel like I'm wearing high-waters! Is there anything I can do about this to get the longer length? I did purchase the jeans at Nordstrom's and I'm worried that if I wash the jeans, they'll just shrink more. Please help! Thanks in advance.

p.s. The jeans are the Laurel Canyons in the McKinley wash and are 60% cotton/40% polyester.

there's this stretch and pull method that i've read before. if you do a search i'm sure you'll be able to find it.

I'm sure if you went in there and explained your situation very nicely and persistently they'll give you a replacement pair. At least that's what we do at my store in this situation.
Looking for: Slammer 71B, Slammer 8bg in size 26, Hayden Panettiere, Yarik 88z in size 27

^I agree since you purchased them there and paid to get them hemmed there you should definitely have gotten what you wanted out of the experience. Like said above be nice but persistent and just say everything you said here. If they say no ask to talk to the manager and if not ask to talk to that guys manager all the way up to the corporate office. 1 inch makes a huge difference & makes jeans unwearable and for the amount you paid that is just not right. Also if they are 31" now they will be shorter most likely when you wash them depending on how you do it. I would bring them in before you washed them though so they cannot say it is due to the wash and not the bad hemming lady. Best of luck!

As CutePurpleStars has said - take them back. They are of no use to you and they should really give you a new pair. Good luck.

I agree, take them back. I would think once you explained the situation, they would give you a new pair. If not, is it the sort of hem that can be let out? Good luck! Hope everything works out

If you bought them there than you can and should return/exchange them. The sell the hemmed jeans at the Rack. The tailor should always listen to you. for all they know you were not wearing your regular height shoes when you came in. Next time refuse to try them on and tell them you know what you want because you've measured the inseam of all of your good fitting jeans. Maybe allow that extra half inch for shrinkage. I tend to get them too short as well when I allow them to measure. Like you they give me a 31 when I know that I wear high heels with my jeans.

I totally agree with everyone else...take them back. Especially since it's Nordstrom, I'm sure they will do something about it--if they don't give you a new pair (I doubt it) at the very least they will definitely give you some kind of refund, or a store credit/giftcard...but one last piece of advice: do it ASAP! I've found that stores tend to be more generous when you come in sooner...
