I just put mine in the washer with the jeans inside out. I only dry them if I want to shrink them.

I usually wash my jeans, then hang dry them. You can put them in the dryer, but there is a chance that they might shrink. You can always dry them on low or the delicate cycle.

Me too! I also only wash them in COLD. Then I put them in the dryer for just a few minutes on LOW to get the wrinkles out and then hang them up to dry. However, if they are jeans that I want to shrink, I dry them on high heat.

1 cup of vinegar in your wash will help prevent fadage--luvapup told me that one i use it with all my dark washes and other dark clothes now.
and yeah, i am like most others. i wash in cold and i dry mine on low heat, unless they are tighter, then i hang dry.

Cold-water wash, hang dry.

I have heard previously that if you don't like the potato-chip crispness of the jeans after a hang-dry, you can throw them into the dryer on "fluff" for a couple of minutes prior to wearing but I've never tried that myself.

i wash mine inside out, cold water, and do low heat drying. i think it's the high heat or abrasive cycles that kill it. all my jeans have lasted me years... i can't do airdry. plus i always forget to pull them out, lol.

Agree with most of the people here.... cold wash inside out, and air dry unless I need them to shrink. When I am at home, I always toss my jeans into the dryer on high for a few minutes before wearing them inbetween washes. That fluffs them up and makes them look nicer plus warm jeans are better to put on!

^ lol I am in the same boat but because I am too cheap to pay $2/load for the washing machine + $1/load for the dryer. I wash my clothes at home when I go home for the weekend.

When I usually wash my jeans, it is inside out in cold water tide in cold water on delicate. I wonder if the vinegar idea works or makes your clothes reek.

I'm going to try the vinager too! I wash my jeans like everything else. In the washing machine on cold, then in the dryer. I haven't had serious shrinking problems ever (besdies that initial tightness that goes away within a few mins of wearing).

inside out / cold water / hang to dry

...also I dont wash them very often, rather air dry them to rid of any smell. They rarely get dirty.

I wash all mine inside out, only with other jeans, on cold/ delicate. I hang them to dry. In the case of jeans that are just a bit too big (some of my stretch SFAM) I will toss them, still inside out, in the dryer. I don't machine-dry rigid though because they shrink too much!

I've used ammonia too in the past. Vinegar works but wont really get rid of stains. Honestly your best bet is something like woolite dark or some free&clear or organic detergent. At any rate, NOTHING will keep your jeans from wearing out except not wearing them at all

If you use vinegar to set the dye, do you only use it the first time?

Also, I have a front load washer, and a pair of dark wash jeans that suggest dry clean only. Should I try the vinegar thing? Should it go in the slot for detergent, or into the main washer area?
Wanted: Paige Melrose or Blue Heights in either Coal or Dark Resin, size 28 Joe's Jeans the Cigarette in a very dark, nondistressed wash.
