sorry, but imo this thread is what -1's and +1's were made for. if you want to take away the - then take away the + as well, otherwise this thread becomes the HF version of communist china.

Agree. We already have the "no comments" version for people that don't want negative feedback.

Agree with both of you. Why bother implementing in a system of voting if you are worried about hurting someone's feelings in the first place?

^ Dito x3 !

I don't think WAYWT should be a place, where people only post their clothes, to increase their self-confidence, or to hear a few kind words an compliments, when they feel bad. In my opinion, constructive criticism is worth much more....

PS : I'd get rid of + and - ! When people like an outfit, they can quote it. If they don't, they can ignore or post some constructive critcism...

Please do not continually quote someone's picture over and over again. It just shows poor forum etiquette. This applies to all pictures, not just WAYWT.

You can quote the person and delete the picture out of the quote if you want to direct a comment to them.

I think +/- is only worth keeping if you can see who is doing it.
In addition, say I + someone, but don't comment, then they know I liked it. (Not that anyone cares if I like it, but, you know..)

Agree %100

If peoples skin isnt thick enough to get a negative comment on occasion, then they shouldnt even be on the internet

Turning the thread into allowing + only, will completely defeat the purpose of having constructive criticism. If somone asks for an opinion, they should be prepared to get a negative comment if people dont like their outfit ( as long as its not overly rude)

Besides, we have a seperate thread now for people who cant handle it.

I would never condone making someone feel like $#@T, but be prepared to get opinions that may differ from your own if your posting on a public forum

fix the anonymous property of the rating system or get rid of it....you guys are perpetually messing with the boards code (or so it seems) and constantly trying to implement new features to "promote" the forums. I have no idea what the deal is but this forum is the slowest running board I visit... by far....and the only 1 that charges a fee for membership. There are scripts that take forever to load and, in fact, sometimes just hang and sometimes the whole layout goes haywire. Please try to clean up the code..you can start with fixing the rating system.

I await the neg lynching

Come to Honda-Tech where I'm a global mod. Load times are much worse with all the google ads and intellitxt. And the members complain infinitely about it (and everything else).

I agree that the anonymous +/- thing should be fixed, but it's also just fine this way.

You know, you slowly went from someone who might have something to say, to one who is just venting about every little thing you want on these boards. I understood your frustration with some of the members here, and though you preach open-mindedness and acceptance, all you do is bitch and moan about how terrible it is here or how someone's honest to god opinion is wrong for them to feel. I've sat around and seen your posts and did not agree with nearly all of them, yet i kept my mouth shut b/c as you can see i don't post too frequently, just like to peruse the day's random chat topics, look at all the new diesel posts and ocassionaly burn some money in the hm. If you dislike the way this board is being run, then kindly stop logging in. I understand when you want to help the forum by way of suggestions, but this kind of berating of telling these guys how to run the boards is simply uncalled for. You may have been on the internet since the beginning of the whole thing, but you've been here for less than a year. Don't pass judgements on things you haven't been around for. This site has a come a long way in the time even since when I have joined and while many of us have grumblings about a few things, we always manage to find a way to state our opinion with some sort of respect. For someone who seems to pride himself on respect, you have very little when it comes to opinions or dealings that happen differently from the way you'd want them to go. You rag on people like sevenkid for having an "immature" attitude and yet you sit around all day on these boards it seems, and police what everyone says or thinks. You're terribly judgmental and quite honestly post on these boards as if you're doing us all a favor by spouting off your terribly judgmental points of view thinly veiled by a stoic sense of "respect." So seriously, if you dislike this "slow moving" community so much, then leave.

I dont agree with that, although I may be one of the few ^

If your a hated member and say something stupid, or wear something completely awfull, that may stop 1 or 2 people from negging you, but not the rest. Likewise the popular members will still get + no matter what they wear

Being able to see who negged you just leaves anger in the minds of the less stable members. I have heard of numurous situations where the person who got negged will actualy pm the people that negged them and complain ( or even tell that person to F$#K off)

I guess my point is who cares if you get negged, its an internet fashion forum

^gotta agree with this in a way. although i personally don't care who negs me (though i am curious to see who the people are who neg everything i post automatically) nor do i care if anyone sees that i negged them, others definitely can take offense to things like that and cause more trouble than its worth. as far as my own posts go, i tend to just look at the total number of votes rather than the net result because i find negging to be the most sincere form of flattery

who did I berate? this is the first time i ever said anything even remotely negative about the BOARD itself....and the post was in response to a comment made by the admin about a feature of the board. I have not, nor will I ever show disrespect. You mentioned sevenkid..when I found out how old he actually is, I promised never to engage him again. I haven't

and yes, I'm a bit antsy today. i'm goin' stir crazy....10 in of snow in NYC will do that to a person

*ETA* just get rid of the rating thingy....asking people just to approve and never disapprove is absurd..i mean really.... this is not thread crapping. it is a response made to a post made by the admin, in THIS thread.

Disclaimer: Not a single person is being singled out in this post, it's all general.

The thread title is a very simple question "What are you wearing today?" The answer to it being a picture of you in whatever garbs you are decked out in to share with others what you were wearing. I don't know if it was ever intended for the thread to turn into a "Rate my outfit" one, but it is what it is now and perhaps should be renamed from it's current title to "Help me improve my outfit" and have the other thread called "What I wore today" with only pictures, very simple.

I don't know the reasons why everyone posts, it may be to get some attention, to express their love for their jeans or maybe in some cases to seek validation, something else all together or a combination of the aforementioned. Whatever the reason may be, tact and respect should be practiced and if you can not say something constructive in a nice and polite manner, say it in private or don't say anything at all. You should/could still neg the outfit if you don't like it but try not saying "OMG, that is fucking hideous" because I am sure that there is someone out there who thinks what you wear is fugly also. This is especially true for newcomers who might be afraid to get shot down because they do not seem to conform to what others say are good. By just jumpling and attacking what someone is wearing, you essentially aren't helping or adding value to the situation.

I feel that constructive criticism is great and I am all for it, but when people inject personal opinion of style with cynicism, sarcasm and mean-spiritedness I think it's counterproductive and promotes group think mentality and a spirit of exclusion rather than inclusion.

There are ways to help people improve on their outfits and style and perhaps if it is something you feel really strongly about, maybe you should broach the topic in private with the person and it may help to accomplish what you want unless of course your aim is to be mean and get a rise out of others.
