No, it doesn't ruin it (well actually nothing ruins it), it's just different from your idea of absoluteness.

It's not my idea, it's just what's done.
A suit with a shawl collar is like a wingtip shoe with a gum sole.

If we keep doing things that were already being done and not experiment a wee bit, where would be "Creativity" now.
Things evolve, one thing leads to another, and new styles imerge. You may not like them but others sure will.
Over and out!

sorry,i didnt make myself clear.I should have asked if talk shows tapered the pants from the knee and below. Its really slim fitting, which i think looks great, especially with those shoes
ross, your fashion sense seems to ruled by guidelines. To some extent this applies. But once in a while u have to chuck a fuck it,and do your own thing
sometimes it works, and other times u can look like a dickhead.
which i have to admit, have done many times

No offense but I used the word "Creativity" which propogates essential apparel etiquette and overall positivity.
If I had used the word "Bufoonery", then sneakers with suit would be great along with many other hip things.

Wow, while I appreciate the feedbacks from our resident fashionista's, I really didn't mean for this to become a full blown debate, so let me answer a few questions that were left up in the air.

Honestly, I really like the shoes. The pointy shape IMO goes well with the overall style of the suit and fit of the shirt. The same with the belt, I wanted something that would compliment the suit without it being the main focal point, but at the same time break up the colours a little (black skinny tie/shirt/suit/shoes can get too much). Having the belt with that particular buckle adds a little more depth to the what would be an all black palette of colours. It's your opinion though, and I respect that.

Like pairing sneakers with a suit? If by others you mean people who have no clue about suit etiquette then yes, otherwise he'd probably be called a chav, no offence tsom.
I wouldn't have commented were it someone else but I didn't expect it from tsom.

Good eye in pointing out the shawl collar. Traditionally, you guys would be correct in that the suits themselves would of been made for a tuxedo style shirt but this is not a tux suit. When I first came across the suit, the visual merchandising was displaying the suit with a white, open collar shirt. A tux suit would 'suffocate' a regular shirt collar due to the fact it was designed for a shirt with no/little collar (grandad shirt). However, my suit is cut a little wider at the top and follows the standard collars on shirts perfectly (if that makes sense). Also, please note traditional tux jackets are accompanied with tux pants, the ones with the black silk lining on the side. Mine do not have them. It's a modern take on a tux, which is what drew me to it in the first place because it's, well, to me kinda nice.
With all the hoopla and the over exaggerated examples of what not to wear with a suit (wearing a pair of trainers, what!!) the person I was making an effort and hoping to garner a positive response from, thankfully, liked what I was wearing. I apologise if this is long winded, but I do not mean to displease the suit gods.
P.S. I really didn't appreciate being called a Chav, vandal....
PPS. Bluesmiley, looking awesome with the shirt and waistcoat And thanks to mustaine and hipster for not jumping on the bandwagon and murdering my attire!!

Though the suit isn't very "traditional" I really like it. I think it's more modern and different. Generic suits get boring to me, especially if you're in a room with 200+ of them which I will be in tonight. Ugh.
