No, it's an old trend now--several years old this time around--but people are still doing it. C&C is one brand that makes very long tops to peek out underneath a shorter tee layered over the top. Short jackets and shrugs have been in style as well.

I think some people layer unknowingly. I wear two tee's sometimes because it gets bloody cold here and I would rather not get my fourth cold in two months!

few brands that exploits the idea of belonging? i'd say this is what all fashion is.

Haha, very true! Brands are trying to make you buy into their ideology, lifestyle or even an apsiration....

Fashion is so superficial!

There's a store across the street from my house where they sell BAPE, but I've never seen anyone in there.

talk_shows_on_mute thanks

the discussion on BAPE is interesting, altough imho, the most interesting thing about NIGO is his early association with Jun Takahashi,Undercover/ism and to see the different directions they went, personally not a huge fan of BAPE, but some of the Undercover/ism stuff is incredible.

this is like the argument you hear when asking newbies what they want their company to represent. they say "we want to offer the best products, best services, at the best prices".

my point is that i dont think there's ever been a brand that has totally pushed exclusiveness and cult fetish, a "sense of belonging", to the point that BAPE has successfully done.

many fashion brands claim to do that, in fact they claim to be everything, few suceed.
