ebay is becoming harder and harder to sell on, especially media. With the new 'best match' display style (which will show listings that expire in 30 days above those which will close in 3 hours) and the some 18-20% closing fees for ebay and paypal combined for media, it's hard to turn profits unless you buy your stuff for dirt cheap.

I have no problem with sellers with a 4 star being suspended. I used to charge outrageous amounts for shipping and my stars are a 4.6 for shipping and 4.8+ for all other categories.. It's also not hard to bring your stars up unless you already have hundreds of '1 star' ratings and your stars are at 3.8 with 2038 ratings, you're pretty screwed.

I also haven't had much problems with buyers only leaving negs. I find that so far buyers have been more than reasonable. And if you are a powerseller who sells hundreds or thousands of items a month, the occasional neg will be overshadowed by all the positive fb.

Of course ebay will always be the best place to sell your things if you aren't looking to make a business out of it. Suppose you get a gift you don't want, good luck trying to get a fraction of that amount using craigslist or something compared to what you will get on ebay for it especially with all the international exposure you get with ebay....

If you are trying to make a business out of it and you haven't established a reputation so far, it's going to be progressively harder with all the new policy changes. If I had the means, I would start my own website and advertise on google and such.

But either way, these next two months will be big bank for myself and other powersellers because people go apeshit on overspending for the holidays. Last year, I was able to get near retail (and often times over retail) on ANYTHING I sold in December and I was only limited to the amount of merchandise I owned because anything I listed sold and sold fast. We'll see how things are this year.

Also I only use BIN with best offer and immediate payment because it's the best way to screen buyers, weigh your options and not have to put up with non payment disputes and countless other hassles.

I changed my settings immediately when I realized they started that Best Match crap. My searches are by ending soonest always. Luckily I haven't had to deal with any star issues yet. I also don't sell that much.
