I rarely sell anything in the AF mall.
Many of the mods do not sell in the AF mall.
Almost ALL of our heavy mall sellers are not mods.

NO ONE deletes a listing because it is a competitive item to one a Mod has for sale.
Thats utterly ridiculous.
If the mall rules are followed properly a listing appears, its just that simple.
Whoever wants to think that mods delete competitors, must be one of those types that think the Moon landing was filmed in Hollywood and is a hoax.

Luvapup, please understand I am just repeating what I've heard on HF, there are other threads about this subject. This is not something I've personally experienced at AF, I didn't mean to stir the pot. But I will say that when I did post things in the AF mall awhile back I had a terrible time using it, I spent a ton of time writing HTML to post items and forgot to put in measurements and had all my listings deleted by the mods so I had to start from scratch, which was annoying.

forgetting to put in something that is announced in every single AF mall subforum as an absolute necessity that will cause your listing to be deleted/not approved if they are admitted....not really a cause to whine about the mall.

Me either.

On the general topic, I will say that the circumstances seem to have changed from when the membership fee was implemented. If I recall correctly, membership was growing so fast that Dave halted new registrants for a few weeks, and when new registration was again allowed, the fee was in place. That obviously curbed the rate at which new members signed up.

Fast forward to the present, where activity on HF has slowed to a crawl and everyone is begging for increased action on here, both in the mall and on the forum. I don't think the factors that led to the fee are all still the same, so I think there's certainly a reason to evaluate its effect on the forum.

And finally, as I said when fee was first being discussed, the mall is just a classified section on a message board. There really is not enough added value to members to warrant a fee to use it. I used three different car audio boards to engage in about 20 or so transactions circa 1998-2000, and there was more than an adequate amount of self-policing on those boards since they had a decent amount of traffic.

More people would use the mall if:

a) The economy weren't in the shitter and people had lots of disposable income and

b) designer denim were selling better in general
MEGA RARE mens diesel jeans posted to honestmall as of 6/29/08 including xro 772, zathan 710, etc

It would be sweet if we had some sort of incentives set up for referrals
