I have no choice but to neg any posts given pluses by the forum's left-wing coalition, avatar; perhaps you should craft your future posts in a manner which makes it impossible for BLM and madiconner to love you so much.

to reiterate, the iraq war was and is a terrible idea. it does not benefit america in any way and never has. afghanistan offered a good idea for a war if it was done properly, but it was mismanaged from the beginning and has failed.

america has never been interested in democracy though - see its actions in latin america and the caribbean - we want to be the only power in this sphere of the world. there is no such thing as a global hegemon and never will be due to the stopping power of water - but we're king here.

This is true. But he works for the Intelligence Sector of the Military, and he's said nothing of them being "vintage." Of what he's allowed to say at least.

Hmph. If WMDs of any significance had been found, why haven't we heard about it? The Bush Administration has never been shy about hyping complete falsehoods, let alone something with an actual kernel of truth that might validate their actions.

Unless they are waiting until 2 weeks before the election to drop it on our heads...

But I really think that ship has sailed. Weapons Inspector Kay has already said "We were all wrong" and now the outright lies and deceptions by the Cheney Wing are starting to unravel.

We went into Iraq because Hussein refused to allow the UN inspectors to look for WMDs, which under the cease fire terms of Desert Storm, they had to do.

We also suspended the inspections at one point, did we not?

Right after 9/11 Rumsfeld penned a memo to the effect of "Tie this to Saddam Hussein." The invasion has been in the works since then, and was more of a goal than Afghanistan ever was. Inspections and the WMDs were smoke and mirrors.

That arguement is TIRED. It didn't work for Kerry in '04 and it doesn't work now.
