I dont know about you, but I dont feel like handing over 60% of my check to pick up the slack for everyone who is too lazy to get a job. Obama wants to turn America from the "land of the free" to the "land of the freeloaders"
you forgot senoir citizens, middle class or working families too

Quote:

Eliminate Income Taxes for Seniors Making Less than $50,000:
Barack Obama will eliminate all income taxation of seniors making less than $50,000 per year. This proposal will eliminate income taxes for 7 million seniors and provide these seniors with an average savings of $1,400 each year. Under the Obama plan, 27 million American seniors will also not need to file an income tax return.

Simplify Tax Filings for Middle Class Americans: Obama will dramatically simplify tax filings so that millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes. Obama will ensure that the IRS uses the information it already gets from banks and employers to give taxpayers the option of pre-filled tax forms to verify, sign and return. Experts estimate that the Obama proposal will save Americans up to 200 million total hours of work and aggravation and up to $2 billion in tax preparer fees.

Provide a Tax Cut for Working Families: Obama will restore fairness to the tax code and provide 150 million workers the tax relief they need. Obama will create a new "Making Work Pay" tax credit of up to $500 per person, or $1,000 per working family. The "Making Work Pay" tax credit will completely eliminate income taxes for 10 million Americans.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden: The Change We Need | Economy

Quote:
It had everything to do with the "dot-com bubble" from 1995-2001 and good old American Capitalism.
I agree with your idea that the power to fix the economy is beyond one person regardless of their position but I disagree with your notion that the dot.com bubble is to blame.

Economically speaking, the 1990s belonged to the U.S. and New York and Silicon Valley. But as this decade motors toward its close, it seems powered by China, and Russia, and Dubai and Mumbai. Most of the factors now making life miserable—commodity inflation, a housing bubble and a weak dollar engineered by the Federal Reserve's promiscuous policies, the demand-driven surge in oil. Not to mention record lows for the jobless.

The most troublesome economic data points aren't necessarily the rising unemployment rate and plunging home prices. Rather, they're the miserable consumer-confidence numbers, which have hit a 16-year-low, and the high percentage of Americans who believe the nation is on the wrong track. When consumers, whose collective actions constitute more than two thirds of U.S. economic activity, are in the dumps, they're less likely to spend, to invest and to take risks.

I don't think it is possible to have intelligent discourse with people emotionally ranting or copy/pasting from random political websites, ergo I will refrain from posting in this topic with you simpletons.

Good point.

I think alot of people are just misinformed by the liberal media and uneducated in general about what our Presidents duties actaully encompass.

I have to give Obama some credit though, in that I dont think He actually believe half the shit that comes out of his own mouth. The problem here lies that alot of the public does believe him for some reason. Could it be that he is a great speaker and Americans want so badly a leader that inspires them?
But me, I have to look at the character of this man and wonder if hes just telling me what I want to hear.

The bottom line. I think Obama is a good salesman, but when you start to look past the smoke and mirrors and ignore the bells and whistles I see someone who hasnt made up his mind on who he really is. I think he needs about fifteen years or so to develope some strong convictions with the intestenal fortitude to stand behind them regardless of what is popular at the time.

Basically, if your going to vote this election on the basis of whats hip or "hoolywood", go for Obama.

On the other hand if you really utilize commen sense and the brain God gave you the answer is clear. Your going to buy the minivan and pass on the exciting sports car. (that means you would vote for McCain)

Lets be adults and make a grown up decision.

I am bit confused by this "making English the official language" how exactly is that even an issue? I mean, it's rather obvious that English is already one of the main languages here...Like when you go to school, you are required to learn...English. And when you are applying for a job, you are more likely to be needed to know English, etc. Isn't that like disputing on whether China's official language should be, Chinese!

Your clearly biased towards the more conservative networks which makes this whole statement suspect. Lets be honest ALL media is guilty of this. I for one am proud that Obama had enough respect and humility to put up with Bill O'reillys asinine attempts to attack his character. I can't believe what a waste that interview was. He did nothing to try to understand or get to Know Obama his views or stances, instead he asked misleading questions and constantly interrupted Obama's responses. Way to go Fox you really made good use of that interview.

That's some real deep shit there maybe you should start a blog to expand on your struggle to save the masses form this new "LIBERAL EVIL"../sarcasm.
Grow up it sounds more like your trying to convince us in order to feel better about your decision. Let people make their minds up instead of feeding into the same hype that FOX uses to divide the nation.

Yes he is a great sales person that's the point. What do think McCain is doing ? This isn't for Brownie points. I agree Obama could use some time to develop stronger convictions , he is not as experienced as McCain but he also brings a refreshing level of maturity and intelligence that frankly has been lacking in previous Presidential candidates. As far as convictions go that can be double edged sword. Look at how many people where convinced and still are convinced that Iraq war had WMD's.

Obama has strong convictions, it's just that the nature of modern Presidential politics prohibits him from expressing them in enough detail. We need sound bites, and no one does sound bites better than Republicans: "Tax cuts! Liberal Media! Family Values! Strong America! No Surrender!" etc...
