Fullscreen exist because the old computer screens were low in resolution, in our age of 20"+ screens it's ridiculous to use fullscreen, waste of real estate.

I admit that apple-tab is copied from alt-tab (shift-tab, etc) of windows, but I never use it in OS X since we have Exposé already. Why would I want to go through my applications one by one in a order (in XP, in OS X you can click on the app you want to use on the apple-tab list).

Alt-tab, or its variant windows-tab in Vista, can be thought of finding the program you want in a linear fashion, such as when you open a file cabinet and flip through the files one by one to file one you want, while Exposé is spreading all your files on a table so you can choose the one you need at a glance (without the hassle of putting the files back together after).

Another personal thing I have with window using ctrl as shortcut key is... it's pretty un-ergonomic to position your left hand's pinky to hold the ctrl key in the corner while you try to use your middle/index finger for c/v for copy/paste. I have had to copy/paste tons of things when I was working as a programmer before and my hand did not like it.

And apple stole them from Xerox. The purpose of my post was not to start a chicken-and-egg argument about who came up with the idea first but rather to point out that Mac users DONT EVEN KNOW ABOUT SUCH OPTIONS even though either O/S has offered them forever.

And you learned about alt-tab in windows because you read the windows manual? Most keyboard shortcuts beside the ones from the file menu are not really listed explicitly anywhere, of course most people don't know all of them, especially since expose is more commonly used in OS X. But I would have thought most "switcher" would have tried to do a alt-tab in OS X by accident (but cmd key is at alt's place) from old habit and ended up pressing cmd-tab and "discovering it."

I doubt many mac users know the mac equivalent of "ctrl-alt-del".

Also, I like how most of you think people buy apple for hardware (omg wowz you can get 4x better computer for same price at dell). It's all about OS X.

Yes, a $20 000 toyota can accomplish the same task as a $120 000 mercedes (go from point A to B), so why do people buy mercedes?

OS X actually underwhelms me. The problem is that it's just an xwindows skin. I've been using unix for over 10 years and there are other variants that I like more. MacOS is hardly a second-coming of operating systems.

My problem with most mac users is that they assume that apple's operating system IS some kind of $120,000 mercedes. It aint.

I'd say about 80% design. Every time I need to use a mac I find myself spending 90% of the time in terminal.

The vast majority of people using home computers only surf the net, check email,do some word processing and play media files. Gamers just need a box with a good display adapter.

Any recent day machine loaded with any OS can handle those tasks with no problem.

Fast machines with extreme processing power and loads of memory are a complete waste for the average user.

I would never wish an e-machine on anyone. The crap hard drives break in about a year and the people who aren't smart enough to avoid an e-machine, aren't smart enought to back up their hard drives.

Don't get me started on backup. I am a backup admin at work, and if I had any data I actually cared about at home, I would have a RAID-5 NAS and a DLT-S4 superloader3 used in conjunction with a bootlegged copy of veritas.

As is I make due with retrospect pro at work...

I think Macs are for pussies. As a PC gamer, i absolutely cannot use a Mac. For the price you are getting slower specs and I like to build my computers and you can't do that with a mac. Using Windows Vista and have no problems with it.
