I would love to see a comparison of all the major shipping companies:

USPS
DHL
FedEx
Ups

I currently use USPS for all my shipping. I am very happy with their domestic prices and speed but I do not like the internation shipping. I am considering switching to FedEx for my international shipping.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Rock on

I use DHL for my large orders shipping international. Customers pay the shipping rate and they are an air service with tracking numbers and insurance. Packages get around the globe in 3-4 days.

I contacted FedEX and DHL today for a 5.5 pound package being sent to Australia with tracking.

The cost was right about $105 for each of the carriers. Then I went to the post office and learned that if I send two smaller 2.75pound packages they will cost $24 each or $48 total.

So I would be saving $57. Interesting stuff.

Rock on.

We've not found the sweet spot for DHL or FedEx or UPS for International shipments yet. Our shipments are rather small though -- we have shipped anywhere from 5 - 50 items (jeans, jackets, etc) to Germany, Australia and Sweden and USPS Global Express (not the guaranteed version) is still the cheapest and one of the speediest for the money. The PC Postage / Click and Ship makes the forms easy too.

I have noticed the rates to be about 1/2 when done through USPS Global Express with a 3-5 day delivery time worldwide. The packages have to fall within a certain weight limit though Not a bad deal. For Domestic shipments, I don't think the prices of FedEx ground can be beaten. It pays to shop and compare.

Good luck.

This is a very good post by just-jeans on www.wholesale411.com/bbs in regard to shipping prices
