Can anyone from the Bay Area, CA recommend me a good place to get some jeans euro-hemmed? Any personal experiences?

Thank you!

Also, to the people who do their own distressing (tapered inseam/outer seam or leg opening); what do you use? Dremel?

An array of fine grit sandpaper, by a small sheet of each and you can experiment with it on a cheap pair. Ever seen anyone work a sewing machine? Doing a Euro-hem isn't too hard, I've learned to do my own. Once you practice you will get it down to a science. Not from the Bay Area, but thought I'd let you know that a doing a euro-hem isn't hard to learn.

JJ's Alterations in San Mateo also does a euro hem but you have to ask for it, I've brought in so many pairs of jeans for him to do original hem he doesn't do euro hem anymore, LOL!

He charges me $10 for original hem. I don't know how much he charges for Euro hem, I'm assuming the same price.

Just remember to show him the picture of the Euro hem. When I first went to him he thought the euro hem was orignal hem and then showed him a print out of the website with do it yourself orignal hem (the one where you cut the hem, not sandwich it) and he now knows what original hem is.

If anyone else needs recs for tailors in Burlingame and SF let me know, depending on where I'm going to be I alternate between the three.

Basically, they just cut off the original hem and attach it back on.

That's what you call euro-hem?? I didn't know that. Nordstrom Rack at Colma can do this for you. Ask for Emmie. You can ID him easily. His photo is in the men's fitting room area (salt-peppered hair Filipino gentleman).

He's done a couple of my TR jeans euro-hemmed. The rack, however, charges $20 for this service. No need to mention that you didn't buy your jeans at the rack. They don't ask thefore, don't them tell where you got your pair. One drawback though...you'll have to wait about 10 days to retrieve your pair, because Emmie takes his time getting them done nicely and often he's got lots pairs to do.

Hope that helps.

If you ever find your way down in San Jose, Forest Tailoring is the ONLY way to go. We refer all of our clients from Diesel over to them, and so does Nordstroms (for their TRs, R&Rs, Sevens, etc..) and I also personally have used them for every single pair of my Diesels. They've never let me down, and do an awesome job on the hems (I've kept the original hems on ALL of my jeans). They charge 14 dollars to eurohem and can do it as fast as 15 minutes. I just dropped off a pair TODAY for one my clients (she's wheel chair-bound, so I take her jeans there for her) and it was done in about 10 minutes.

Usually it takes them a few days but since I give them so much business from Diesel and from myself personally, they treat me very well and basically cut me in line and start on my pair right when I hand it to them. I don't have a camera currently on me, but I did have a pic of the hems of my New-Phylli pants that I had them do:

That's very nice. It looks like the sandwich method was used on those. I will give them a call.

Thanks
