okay.. they arent super dark but a little dark that it bothers me now (had it for as long as I can remember, even seen them in a pic of me in 2006). i get about 8-9 hours of sleep alot and use my pc quite often as most of my work is done on here. i've tried the cucumber slices along with drinking lots of water, but no luck
allergies is also a problem with me, which I think is the cause.. but I'm not exactly sure of it. I purchased Neutrogena Radiance Boost eye cream today for about 25$ and going to try them for as long as the bottle lasts to see any effect. if not i'm going to have to seek alternatives
I prefer using creams over putting slices of potatoes, cucumbers and what not over my eyes, would probably be more effective anyway? Plus I remember reading something about vitamin k and retinol in creams work best, but I didnt see any eye creams that had those ingredients in them at all
so.. post any creams that worked for you and the price. i'm taking any suggestions! local Wal-mart didnt have much choice so I might just get them over the internet if needed.. thanks!
ps. I dont have bags under my eyes, or puffiness. just dark :P

I believe dark eye circles are mostly hereditary and differ because of nationality (some cultures just HAVE THEM).
I don't think there really is an effective cure, as even the most expensive creams like Strivectin have proven to only help mildly.
Here's an article that used 6 diff people to test eye creams ranging from low to high, its pretty interesting! Total Beauty: content package p_eye_cream_test

Short Anwser: You're screwed.
It's genetics. The reason why you get bags under your eyes when you don't get enough sleep is because your skin is paler and you can then see the blood vessels/whatever under your eyes. I am permenently pale, and therefore cannot leave the house without makeup... or I look like I'm dying.
(Faux) tan maybe? That's the only thing I can really reccomend.

I'm really pale too. I tan occasionally and use self tanner. I'm able to use darker makeup and my circles are much easier to cover and not as obvious. Allergies and sinus infections make them much worse. No cream really works. Laura Mercier makes FABULOUS concealer.

Dark circles are famously annoying and unfortunately, there's no way to get rid of them, especially if they are hereditary. However, you have 3 basic options for concealing them:
Use a proper concealer. Test out the best colors at a department store counter or at Sephora. (Tip: Tell the makeup artist you are looking to correct the undereye circles and are testing several different types before purchase). Choose concealer that's a shade lighter than your foundation. And if your circles are very dark, go 2 shades lighter. You might be choosing a concealer that's too light if you are getting a 'raccoon look.'
You can read more here: http://beauty.about.com/od/foundationsco...
Dark circles are caused by one of three primary reasons. Here's the quick and dirty on which solution works best for each type.
- Bone structure. If you have deep-set eyes, shadowing contributes to the dark color under the eyes. Your best bet: camouflage. Look for concealers with yellow undertones, which counteract the bluish cast to under-eye circles.
- Pigmentation. Genetic hyper-pigmentation is the most treatable form of dark circles. Your best bet: Try a lightening cream or talk to a dermatologist about chemical peels or laser resurfacing.
- Vasculature inflammation. Late nights, allergies and nutritional deficiencies can enlarge the blood vessels beneath the thin under-eye skin. Your best bet: Take care of yourself! Sounds cliché but drink that water, get your beauty sleep, eat a healthy diet and avoid cigarette smoke (easy enough, right?).
A product recommendation would be mary kay's firming eye cream and the timewise age fighting eye cream. Good luck!

heh i've been trying to get that sleep. sleeping at around 11-12 now.. weekends, maybe +1hr later. but I try not to :/ approx 8-9 hours of sleep a day which is good. and about 2L of water a day (washroom trips are by the hour ) allergy season is also kicking in so i'm gonna see if allergy pills will help them since I can use them to help treat stuffy noses etc. no smoking here either

I have dark circles around my eyes too. What's a good cream brand that's for sensitive skin?
I've also read about home remedies like putting potato or cucumber slices on the eyes. Is that effective?
