When you have a craving, drink water. Soon it will pass (this works for cigarettes too).
You should start working low-cal fruit and vegetable juices into your diet. I know you've admitted to some diet.eating problems in the past, so I feel funny making any kind of recommendations...but a nice juice will satisfy the craving for sweet and tasty stuff, while also being healthy...
Try Bolthouse juices, or Naked juices. Soda in general is disgusting.

Oh, Tee. Tee Tee Tee. How German you are.
..I dont think diet drinks are too bad if it is once in a while..I drink 2 or 3 a day which is too much. I feel silly for this thread because it seems melodramatic, but i really have trouble giving them up and its getting to a point where they are making me super sick I have a history with reacting badly to aspartme but it seems to be in most the drinks.. Hmm. :/

Aspartame is bad stuff. Only recently was it removed from the Pentagon's list of biological weapons.
I don't chew most gum because most of it has aspartame in it. Dentyne only for this guy.

Ross: Your right, it is disgusting. I was addicted to diet coke when i was younger..so much so i was bed ridden for 2 weeks and could not hold a pencil, open my eyes or walk :/ Whatever is in these drinks is really dangerous. It is heavilly addictive too. I am trying to reach for the water and it helps some.. But i get hyper focused on that diet drink taste and i end up with one in my hand or driving to buy some :/

It's the aspertame, or the fake sugar in the diet coke. My best advice is to replace diet drinks with something else like hot chocolate or a fruit drink. I LOVE izzie, it's this great sparkling fruit juice drink that counts as a serving of fruit! If I could find it more often (its a bit hard to find, but I've seen it at Target, some Starbucks and Whole Foods) I could completely switch from diet soda to Izze. I drink about 2 diet cokes a day (caff free)... I know it's horrible.
Ingredients: (I grabbed one of my cans of clementine Izze)
Pure jucie from grape, apple, orange, lemon, clementine and acerola juice concentrates, sparkling water, beta carotene (color), gum acacia (from acacia trees), ester gum, natural flavors.

I'm sorry to say that, but...
In that case, the only person who's able to help you, is a DOC !
If it isn't just a bad habit yet, but a real addiction ( + relating to your actual disease ), we're not able to help you ! Here, you can only find a bit affection, hope, attention and a few kind words, what will be just good for your heart and soul. But a REAL HELP can only be a doc ! If your addiction will become physical, it will be too late...

Soda w caffeine and sugar causes your body to become dehydrated. That may be why you're feeling dizzy. Cola is ok in moderation but drinking it several times daily isnt a healthy habit. I used to have the same problem! I found the trick to kicking the soda pop addiction was finding a replacement beverage that satisfied both the convenience and taste factor.
What I most liked about drinking soda was that it was nice and cold, easy to grab and go and had some “texture” to it (the carbonated beverage). Although I like a bit of fruit juice, it was too “syrupy” for me to find it satisfying as a main beverage and plain water wasn’t doing it either. Here’s what worked for me:
Keep a jug of water refrigerated at all times. It has to be prepared fresh daily or sealed well because once it tastes a bit stale, you’re turned off of it for awhile.
Squeeze fresh lemon or lime juice in the water, as much as you like, tossing in the just squeezed fruit wedges too.
When serving, pour over a full glass of crushed ice. The crushed ice added a bit of “texture” to the beverage that I felt was an acceptable replacement to the carbonated soda. It wasn’t carbonated, but the sensation was satisfying enough.
I found keeping the water cold, always at the ready and lots of crushed ice on hand was key.
More Tips:
Don’t keep soda in the house, especially canned pop. When you open a can of pop, it’s too easy to feel obligated to drink the whole thing (otherwise it’s wasteful).
If you find in the beginning that you just have to have some pop, keep a small bottle refrigerated. I found that giving myself a sip or two was enough to satisfy my craving. Just be careful to only take sips when you’re on the verge of guzzling a 2 Litre bottle of cola.
Keep water bottles at the ready so you can just fill them up when you’re running out the door. You may have to pound the crushed ice a bit finer for it to scoop up nicely into the empty bottle.
Try a carbonated water, they are a perfect substitution!
If you give yourself a few days, you’ll find the craving won’t be that strong and that you’re satisfied with the citrus flavored water. For me, the crushed ice was a must have.
This is a great healthy alternative to drinking soda pop daily and it’s easy (and cheap) to maintain.
