I have finally got an appointment to see a plastic surgeon for a tummy tuck consultation on March 28, and I have been waiting for an appointment since October.

Before people start passing judgement and putting in their own $0.02, this is why I have resorted to plastic surgery.

About 2 years ago I was 200 pounds and wearing like size 32-33 jeans. I was very athletic and toned in junior high school but I got ACL surgery in high school and became depressed, and my weight skyrocket because I hated school and couldn't play sports.

Once I graduated, I changed my lifestyle by eating healthy meals and exercising. The weight was coming off except the skin in abdominal area kept sagging with every pound lost, instead of toning up. After 40 pounds lost, my stomach did not respond with exercise or diet and now is just sagging skin that will not tone up. I can grab about 3 fists worth of skin at least from my belly and the loose skin rubs against my jeans and I get horrible rashes, along with my belly getting caught in my zipper.

I was reluctant to plastic surgery but I have tried pilates, cardio, situps, abdominal classes and nothing has worked for that part of my body. I also got sick of people trying to help because every person told me to do more situps or spot train, which I can't do. After 1.5 years of trying, I finally decided to go to my doctor and he told me that it will not go away on its own. I have been at a steady weight for over a year except lately some birth control pills I got switched onto caused me to put on 15 pounds, but I just got switched to a different kind.

I am just excited because after I get surgery, I will no longer have belly skin getting caught in my fly zipper or rashes, my stomach won't be sagging down south and I can get my firm stomach I had 7 years ago in JR. High back.

I got my consultation today and it went really well. I am not getting a tummy tuck, but instead the doctor recommended liposuction because the bulge hasn't gone away in over 2 years. I will b.e getting surgery in December because I will have time off at Christmas, and plenty of time to recover. I have to save $9000 now (so far I have $4000)

No judgement here, and you shouldn't have to explain yourself. Nevertheless, from your post it seems you have put much thought into a decision that is best for you. Congrats on the consult, isn't it wierd we think we need one thing and the Dr. recommends another. Good luck with the fundraising! Keep us updated and remember to take before and after shots.

I think its great that you are doing this.

Considering you lost that much weight, (which is an amazing achievement btw, congrats!) no amount of exercise can get rid of all the extra skin. Along with diet and exercise you will be able to really get the max results I bet you're looking for. i really wish you all the best of luck hun.

Couple suggestions: make a list of questions to ask the doctor in the consultation and dont be afraid to ask them! in doing such a procedure its important to be educated and be aware of absolutely everything they are going to be doing to you. potential complications, after care, the actual procedure itself, long term effects etc...

Thanks Misspookie My mom and I were surprised that the doctor said that I just needed lipo because it looked like hanging skin. The consultation was also interesting because he was feeling other parts of my body for fat storage, and he said there was no fat on my thighs, elbow, butt and it was all muscle. He also said that all my weight is carried in my middle.

I am getting the lipo done by Dr. Rodrigo Neira. He created a liposuction machine and its patented in the US and tons of credentials.
