I have been wanting to lose that weight I've put on this year.... (put on by stress and overworking), and I'd like some other input cause I wasn't really satisfied with what the trainer had to tell me.
I eat decently.. well... except for the candy, but when I'm losing weight I cut most of it out except once a week. I am eating lots of fruit and veggies, chicken and fish, I eat my large meals in the morning/lunch, very little after about 3 oclock, and I usually only eat bread at breakfast.

I know a bit about health/fitness. I've worked at a gym and have a health sciences background, but I also know I'm not an expert. I knew it would be tough to lose on my own, cause I dont' have a lot to lose, so I wanted a trainer. But when I went in for my first session and described my goals I was surprised by her advice. I know I'm not large, but I'm not unrealistic. I told her I'm just looking to get back to where I was in January because I can FEEL the difference, and I can see it when I wear my clothes. She basically told me that neither she, not exercise would be able to help me do what i wanted. If I did cardio I would just end up burning my muscle and I probably would not be happy with the results of weight training. (but i think toning is what I really need) She recommended I do just a little cardio, for my overall health but it won't help me fit in my clothes better. Really, the only way for me to get back to where I was is diet.

Frankly I thought her advice was poo, but like I said, not an expert. I know diet is important but I have had good results with exercise. Anyway given she's right, Every way that I know says that i am eating well. I dont' want to eat less... I'm not starving myself. so, what do I do?

Thats pretty stupid advice in my opinion, she cxould have suggested eating some protein before cardio to stop the muscle wasting.

Here are a few things that will help you get the weight off without dieting

#1 Stop eating large meals
Split your large meals into many smaller ones, this gives your body much more time to digest and process your food leaving less to go to fat

#2 Stop eating white/processsed carbs
Switch to brown breads/pastas and rice. White simple carbs spike insulin levels and aid in adding fat to your body. The energy from non processed sources is given out over a longer period of time, giving you more constant energy, and less of whats left goes to fat because you are given more time to use it

#3 Stop eating carbs after 7:00-8:00
This will aid you BIG TIME in getting weight off without starving yourself

#4 Eat snacks that re heavy in water ( which yu already do) salad, veggies and some fruits will give you the feeling of being full, but they are so full of water, your not adding any calories. Eat more veggies then fruits though, as fruits are high in fructose/natural sugars

Any other questions ( or if I can help you in any other way) please drop me a pm

the biggest tip that ive received is that if you wanna lose a very small amount of weight and basically tone up you need to keep your diet the same since it sounds healthy, but you want to do 70/30 cardio to weights. by weights it doesnt matter if its your own body weight or actual freeweights, but the key here is the intensity..if your already in good shape this shouldnt be hard, but chose a new workout routine with completely different cardo than you normally do and a new weight routine and do it with a high intensity level for about 3 weeks-1 month you will see yourself tighten up over a 3 week period after the workout. the key is shorter rest intervals 15-20 sec. max and proper form.
