I need some advice. I bid on an item on ebay on June 15th. I paid for it June 16th. She apparently shipped it but I never received it. I of course opened up a dispute. She just emailed me today stating the slip got sent back to her and to tell her my mailing address again and to please close the dispute. She is from the UK.

When I emailed her about if my item had been shipped or not she said yes it was. Then I emailed again and said it still hadn't arrived. She said she would try to find her receipt. Never got back to me. I emailed her again. She said her friend had been killed and finding my receipt was not one of her priorities. She was KIND OF rude in this email. I was nice this whole time. The last email I wrote I just said please refund me this is getting ridiculous. Blah blah blah. I filed the dispute. And a week later she emailed me (today) stating it got shipped back to her and to give her my address again and close the dispute.

Now, I am a fairly smart person. I don't think I should close the dispute until I either receive my item or my money. I just don't trust that she will send it and I want to only protect myself. What should I say to her? What should I do? Is this the right/safe thing to do?

I really don't understand why I have a gray cloud over my head. Ah well.

Opinions please! Thanks guys!

Ask for a tracking number and keep dispute open. DO NOT CLOSE THE DISPUTE unless you have the item in your hand or a refund.

Thank you Kelly for always responding to my problems LOL! The dispute automatically closes by August 5th and she hasn't responded to it. Can you help me write her a good and professional email?

that's for sure the best excuse I've ever heard. Why are people dealing with ebay when they better run for their lives?

I strongly support the post of Kelly: "DO NOT CLOSE THE DISPUTE unless you have the item in your hand or a refund."

I've once opened a paypal dispute about a not received item. Then the item arrived and I closed the dispute because the not received item has now arrived. But the item was not as described, so I wanted to open a new dispute but that wasn't possible. After emailing with paypal they opened a new dispute. So it's possible, but I think it is better to let the dispute open even when the reason for opening is not solved (no delivery).

Selling on Ebay can be hazardous to your life, your health and that of your friends and relatives.

I think Ebay should post a disclaimer & warning.
The death and hospitalization excuse runs rampant.
