Ha I bought my NWT pair for around $120... I would be surprised if the winning bidder actually pays.

its the quintessential dark-dirty wash for the fall season. I can see how someone who really wanted it would pay that much. That wash was imitated in so many ways by brands like guess, i think they even stole the exact back pocket design once.

Ghengis Tron, have you ever heard the band by the same name? I'm guessing you're not affiliated.

I don't think $300+ in a desirable size is all that crazy when you consider that your typical pair of Diesels will run you at least $240 at retail. 784 is one of the all-time great washes and the delicate nature of the rust patina makes BNWT condition all that more desirable. Who knows, this could be the last new pair of 29W 784s in existence.

This wash is sick. I actually like this better than the 764. I pity the guys who got into a bidding war over these. I bet they've all been looking for this wash to turn up in this size for a while. I would also put bet money that piglet would have let these go for a lot less had the offer been made. I bet he/she was equally surprised at how high they went.

i agree at better than 764, something about the rust and the back pockets and just that color of the denim used, its quite the perfect combination.
timmen 784 is quite epic as well.

Nah, 764 for the win. The azure-like blue on the 764 is amazing.

784 does look great in timmen and pretty good in koffha but the 764 wins overall i think.

I was watching these
Proof positive of a few things:
1) This period in Diesel's history will be known as the "Golden Age" (82M, 784, 764, introduction of Farco, etc.)
2) Looser legs will take over before we know it.
3) The market for bootcuts isn't entirely dead. (sure 772's sell for mad because fanboyz will fork over anything to look 'cool.' But this isn't a fanboy wash)

Maybe for color, the 764 wins, but I like the 'heft' of the denim better on the 784's. They are stiffer, and don't hang as much as the 764 do. My 764s look sloppy on me, and I hate that about them. The 784s do not.

I prefer 784
Finding that ultra contrasty pair of 764s isnt easy, many of them are far more bland then a pic with the camera flash on makes them look like on ebay
784 has much more consitancy to the wash, you can almost always count on it to be dirty.
ri0tp00f, I snagged a pair for $109 as well quite some time ago, I probaly got them from the same reputed seller you did. Dirty as all hell, and they have never been washed.
Aside from 82N, my favourite dirty wash
